Ficton- futuristic
Now Playing: Enders Shadow
The human race is at War with the "Buggers," an insect-like alien race. The first battles went badly, and now as Earth prepares to defend itself against the imminent threat of total destruction at the hands of an inscrutable alien enemy, all focus is on the development and training of military geniuses who can fight such a war, and win.

The long distances of interstellar space have given hope to the defenders of Earth--they have time to train these future commanders up from childhood, forging them into an irresistible force in the high--orbital facility called the Battle School.

Andrew "Ender" Wiggin was not the only child in the Battle School; he was just the best of the best. In this new book, Card tells the story of another of those precocious generals, the one they called Bean--the one who became Ender's right hand, his strategist, and his friend. One who was with him, part of his team, in the final battle against the Buggers.

Bean's past was a battle just to survive. He first appeared on the streets of Rotterdam, a tiny child with a mind leagues beyond anyone else's. He knew he could not survive through strength; he used his tactical genius to gain acceptance into a children's gang, and then to help make that gang a template for success for all the others. He civilized them, and lived to grow older.

Bean's desperate struggle to live, and his success, brought him to the attention of the Battle School's recruiters, those people scouring the planet for leaders, tacticians, and generals to save Earth from the threat of alien invasion. Bean was sent into orbit, to the Battle School. And there he met Ender. .

Now Playing: Enders Game
Andrew "Ender" Wiggin thinks he is playing computer simulated war games; he is, in fact, engaged in something far more desperate. The result of genetic experimentation, Ender may be the military genius Earth desperately needs in a war against an alien enemy seeking to destroy all human life. The only way to find out is to throw Ender into ever harsher training, to chip away and find the diamond inside, or destroy him utterly. Ender Wiggin is six years old when it begins. He will grow up fast.

But Ender is not the only result of the experiment. The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway almost as long. Ender's two older siblings, Peter and Valentine, are every bit as unusual as he is, but in very different ways. While Peter was too uncontrollably violent, Valentine very nearly lacks the capability for violence altogether. Neither was found suitable for the military's purpose. But they are driven by their jealousy of Ender, and by their inbred drive for power. Peter seeks to control the political process, to become a ruler. Valentine's abilities turn more toward the subtle control of the beliefs of commoner and elite alike, through powerfully convincing essays. Hiding their youth and identities behind the anonymity of the computer networks, these two begin working together to shape the destiny of Earth-an Earth that has no future at all if their brother Ender fails.

Fiction- Fantasy
Now Playing: Lord of the rings and the return of the king
this is another fiction book and it is about wizards and other magical things.

This book relates to fiction fantasy reading becuase it is somthing that can happen or is belive to maybe happen. this book is also very hard to summarize with out it being 10 pages long so here is a very short summary of a very very good book not to mention movie.

Two fearless hobbits, Frodo and Sam, travel quietly through the evil land of Mordor, hoping to destroy a dark and powerful ring. The only way the ring can be destroyed is to be hurled into the fiery depths of Mount Doom, located in the heart of Mordor. The two hobbits meet scary creatures, including orcs, ringwraiths and the treacherous Gollum.

Fantasy
Now Playing: Harry Potter and The goblet of fire
This genre is belived to be things that are made up or things that could mabye one day happen such as wizards and mystical creatures and so on.

Many of the first 75 of this tome?s 700-plus pages are spent rehashing the first three books, so about the only new thing readers discover is that Voldemort is on the move again. Meanwhile, Harry escapes his summer ?imprisonment? at the Dursleys? to attend the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasley family and Hermione. Thousands of international witches and wizards are gathered at the Cup, and chaos erupts when the ?Dark Mark? (Voldemort?s sign) suddenly appears in the sky.

Back at Hogwarts for the fourth year, only a few remain concerned about the Dark Mark. Everyone?s attention has been diverted by the news of the Triwizard Tournament?a magical contest between the wizarding Champions of the three largest magical schools: Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbaton. Harry is too young to be chosen as Hogwarts? official school champion, but someone finds a way to enter him in the contest anyhow. Once chosen, Harry must participate, and it is soon clear that whoever entered him did so intending him harm.

Through the year-long competition, champions complete three magical tasks, hoping to win honor for their school and a monetary prize for themselves. Along the way, readers discover that the Dark Mark and the Triwizard Tournament are not unrelated after all. Also, something is fishy (again) about the new professor for Defense Against the Dark Arts (Does he want to help Harry or harm him?). Hermione goes on a campaign to free the house elves from slavery, and everyone gets fed up with muckraking journalist Rita Skeeter, who seems determined to ruin Harry?s life.

The Triwizard tournament ends with a twist, and the victory celebration has hardly begun before Harry is sucked into another battle with Voldemort. Rowling delivers on her promise that a well-liked character will die. Once again, Harry escapes with his life, but the end of this story spells more-than-usual concern for the future, because Voldemort has regained his body (which he had lost when he tried to kill infant Harry) and his followers. As the book closes, we find Professor Dumbledore calling the international wizarding community to stand together against the dark side. A large-scale battle is sure to come.

fiction
Now Playing: Runaway Jury By John Grisham
The next genre i picked was fiction which covers stories that are made up or not real but that follows a more less real life perspective.

The story that i read was about an office building which was shot up and one of the employees was shot and so his wife was looking for a settlement check from the gun manufacturer so the case went to court and when they were making the jury selection they picked a man who was kind of a mystery to them and when it all started him and his wife had divised a plan and it was a very good plan they were going to sell the case to the one of the lawyers but the catch was that the price for the verdict of there choice was 15 million dollars and thats not an easy amount of money to come by, this went on for a few days and after some communication and mishaps the plantiffs attorney turned down the offer he wanted to win the case for his client on his own and so after that being said the defence attorney took the offer but durning all of this the defence attorneys aid or so called advisor was gathering back ground on the man in the jury who he thought was rather mysterious and he found out that one of the other cases he worked on and lost that same man was the one who he lost to and the defendant because of a school shooting years ago, not having all the information they said that they would pay so they set it up while the man on the jury was to convince the other jurors the money was bein transfered and after that happend they had there virdict and when it came down to it they gave the case to the plantiff and he was mad and left the court room the woman had one and got her settlement for her husbands death and so after all of that they man and his wife the one from the jury went on living knowing that the advisor would never work a case again because they had proof that he tried to buy the case.

Magazine/Journalism
Now Playing: road and track
Non-Fiction stories are stories that are true and explain real life facts and information this title can cover many things such as newspapers, magazines, autobiographies, biographies, and many other types of writing.
The first genre I picked to read was non-fiction and it was a magazine about new cars that are coming out or cars that are already out or the specs on future cars or stuff like that, it also covers comparisons on cars to other cars and there are just like different types of articals that are in this magazine that cover so much, ive read many that are about one car and a persons adventure when they get to take out the car for a couple days and test drive it in different terrains and stuff like that it is a rather cool magazine and the detail is very informative and helpful when learning about cars.
